Crazy

Well, I’ve gone and done it.  I’ve officially signed up for my first half marathon!  How am I feeling?  At the moment – crazy!  It took me 15 minutes to press the “submit & checkout” button.  Running 13.1 miles straight?  And paying to do it?  What am I thinking?!  Craziness!!  But I know in the end, it will totally be worth it.  Some of my dearest girlfriends and I are going to be running together in the race this fall.  Currently, I’m running about 3 miles at a time.  Good for starters but I have a loooooooooong way to go.  So here’s to lots of sweat, aching muscles, and a huge sense of accomplishment.  Let the training begin!

Yay Pai! You’ll have so much fun! You feel crazy now, but that day when you have hundreds of people around you, and you run across that finish line, you’ll feel such a sense of accomplishment. I’ve heard that’s a great race. Have fun!!

  2. Whew, good luck! I am sure you will feel great at the end!

  3. I am so excited for you…VA Beach Rock-n-Roll was my first half in 2006! It was awesome. I’m doing my 5th next March and even considering a FULL before I turn 30! 🙂

When I started training for the half the longest I had ever run was 4 miles…I did a 10K during my training, but I still felt quite unprepared for the 13.1! And I admit that I walked a fair amount of my first one…but I’ve run the whole time in the subsequent 3.

It really is an awesome feeling when you’re done. You should read Christine Caine’s Run to Win while you are training! 🙂

Best of luck and let me know how it goes! :0) (My biggest advice is that if you skip during the week you’ll survive, but don’t skip your long runs!) 🙂

  4. PS-Sorry my reply was longer than your blog! LOL

I recently just completed my first half- Delaware Half Marathon with Team in Training ( raises money for leukemia and lymphoma society) I walked – 13.1 – all this 6 months after stopping chemotherapy. It’s hard work and training is hard- but when you pass that finished line– it’s the best feeling!!! You are gonna love it!!! 🙂

Patience! You can SO do this. I signed up for my first “half” (as I call them) on New Year’s Eve 2006, now I’m hooked. I’ve run another since then. My least favorite part about being pregnant: I can’t run. Who would’ve ever thought I’d say THAT?! I can’t wait to see the pictures. Let me know if you need/want my training schedule. I used it both times and it was really doable. You go girl!
